We drove 8 hours on Saturday to get the bulk of driving completed immediately after our anniversary excursion in Park Metropolis, Utah. Our intention was the Tiny The us resort in Flagstaff, AZ. I appreciate the Minor America. It was our household away from residence in Salt Lake Town even though my daughter was at the University of Utah.

As I drove throughout Navajo land to Flagstaff, I observed dim grey clouds setting up about Flagstaff. I pulled more than and enable my husband just take above. Immediately after 35 years in the desert, I freak out driving as a result of a storm — and I grew up in the vicinity of Seattle!

A few miles from the resort, we witnessed enormous lightning strikes, thunder and a downpour so powerful we misplaced most of our visibility.

“Welcome to Flagstaff in July!” I told my husband. We the two laughed and drove slowly and gradually to the hotel with our windshield wipers on blast.

Final July we invested our anniversary in Flagstaff. This is what I wrote:

Hail storm on the way to Flagstaff, July 2021 ahead of we dropped all visibility.

Friday we left for a two-hour drive to celebrate our anniversary in the interesting mountain city of Flagstaff, Ariz. We have been looking ahead to obtaining out of the heat, discovering a new location, climbing, eating, and staying at our favored resort manufacturer, Very little The usa.

Midway to Flagstaff, we ended up entranced with major dim clouds that had extensive threads of rain hanging from them. Then there was a thunderclap and it started out to rain. The rain turned into hail in minutes. It sounded like our motor vehicle was remaining hit by golf balls. I was afraid out of my brain.

My partner asked me to switch on the hazard flashers. My palms shook so badly I could not do it. I commenced praying the Hail Mary!

We noticed cars and trucks pull above on the suitable shoulder of the two-lane freeway. But there was a cliff on that aspect and the visibility was having terrible. We were being in the remaining lane in which there wasn’t room to pull about, just a ditch.

Visibility went to zero. My spouse drove at 1 mile for every hour. He mentioned he did not want to end in scenario another person barreled into us. He adopted a foot at the rear of a semi — the tail lights the only factor we could see.

Looking again on that travel in July 2021:

We did not know — until we got to the lodge — that our car was dented from the entrance to the back bumpers and everything in in between. It appeared like anyone took a hammer to it. The car or truck went into the store for two months even though we waited for the chrome trim to be delivered amidst supply chain problems. The coverage enterprise was so inundated with promises from that storm that they flew in insurance policies adjusters from Texas and Oklahoma.

Our mates who dwell in close by Prescott reported they located four useless deer in their property killed by hail. They also had tens of hundreds of bucks of harm to their home.

What we observed on the news yesterday right before we headed household:

Video clip of flash flooding in Flagstaff.

Good news!

In the end, we arrived residence safely and securely from our 2021 and 2022 anniversary excursions. I’m up to do it all over again next 12 months!

What type of storms have you experienced that appeared wilder than standard? Did everybody stay safe and sound?
